Orchestra

Last night my big twins, Bud and Missy, had their very first orchestra concert. They were so excited, and they did a great job. Missy plays the violin, and Bud plays the viola. They played Jingle Bells, Jolly Old St. Nicholas (I think--I'm having a momentary memory lapse), and Carol of the Bells. They played with students from 4 other elementary schools, and last night was the first time they had played all together. I thought it was pretty good for only taking lessons since the end of September. When I have more time, I'll try to post a couple of clips of the video I took during the rehersal.

Good job! I'm sure that did a fabulous job! Sorry I missed it!

Did you stay for the whole thing, or just the first part. Each group sounds better and better. I find the hardest concerts to listen to are Orchestra, because they are so hard to tune, and even one can make the whole group sound off. But once they learn it is so nice. Makae plays the viola - not great yet, but better than she used too. The girl who played in between the elementary and junior high groups is her age. I couldn't believe how good she played.

Yeah, we stayed for the whole thing. I said I'd help keep the S.W. kids quiet during the rest of the program. Turns out there were several parents there so I just kept my own kids in line. :D It was really neat to hear how good they can be if they keep at it.

My daughter played with the Junior High group and my oldest was a cellist in the High school orchestra. I've watched as my children have gotten better through the years and when your twins are playing in the high school orchestra it will be an amazing experience for you.
